What the event is about

According to the invitation, more than 800 new members joined the Los Angeles Chapter this year. The New Member Mix is designed for them to meet one another, talk directly with Chapter Board leaders and chapter staff, and learn how the chapter works.

The theme is connection and community, and the chapter hopes the event helps new members start their journey as active members. The event is sponsored by Gravitas.

Why it matters from Japan

Recording Academy members take part through their local chapters, and the Grammy Awards are decided by member voting. Connections among members are also a way for work to be heard. Holding a dedicated welcome for new members shows how much weight the Academy places on building its member network.

GAJ (The Association Japan) is a community that connects Japanese musicians and music businesses aiming for the Grammys. We will keep reporting on developments like this.
