imase Releases 'Service Area' Video, the Yaffle-Produced Closer of New EP 'Hatena'
Updated: 2 days ago
Japanese singer-songwriter imase premiered the music video for his new song 'Service Area' (Saabisu Eria) on YouTube at 8 p.m. JST on October 10. The track is the eighth and final song on the EP 'Hatena', released digitally on October 2. Yaffle handled sound production and co-arranged the song with imase.
Eight Songs, Seven Producers
imase wrote the words and music for all eight tracks on 'Hatena', but worked with different sound producers across the record. The official credits list Jun Matsumoto (two songs), mabanua, Singo Kubota (Jazzin'park), Shin Sakiura, Yuya Hirosawa (HANO), Shuta Hasunuma and Yaffle. The result is a record where you can hear the same voice and songwriting move through very different sounds.
The video credits list imase and Hitomi Aoki as cast. A teaser was released the day before, on October 9 (see Related Video below).
A Note from BRUSH MUSIC
imase first reached listeners across Asia with 'NIGHT DANCER'. Rather than giving the new EP one producer's signature sound, he spread the songs across seven collaborators. That gives 'Hatena' eight different doors for overseas playlists and new listeners. We'll be watching which one opens first.
