MUSIC WAY PROJECT, a joint project by CEIPA (the Culture and Entertainment Industry Promotion Association, which organizes MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN) and TOYOTA GROUP, announced on Nov. 3 that its overseas showcase “matsuri” will come to Europe for the first time. “matsuri ’26: Japanese Music Experience LONDON” takes place on Monday, Dec. 14, 2026, at Outernet Live in London.

Three very different acts, one night

The lineup is Hitsujibungaku, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu and Otoboke Beaver. Alternative rock band Hitsujibungaku toured the U.S., Asia and Europe in 2025, and “more than words,” the ending theme for the Shibuya Incident arc of the anime Jujutsu Kaisen, has passed 200 million streams worldwide.

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu has completed five world tours and played Coachella in 2022. Kyoto punk band Otoboke Beaver has played Glastonbury, Coachella and other major festivals, and in 2026 joined Foo Fighters on six UK and European dates.

Tickets and schedule

The show runs 6–10 p.m. (planned). An O2 pre-sale opens Nov. 4 at 10 a.m. UK time, followed by a Live Nation pre-sale on Nov. 5 and general sale on Nov. 6. An industry mixer called “tsudoi,” co-hosted with JETRO, is also planned for the same day.

The first “matsuri” was held in Los Angeles in March 2025 with Ado, ATARASHII GAKKO! and YOASOBI. A Bangkok edition, the series’ first in Asia, is planned for February 2027.

Editor's view

An alt-rock band, a J-pop icon and a punk band on the same stage. Instead of showing “Japanese music” as a single sound, this lineup shows how wide it really is. The industry mixer on the same day matters too: a show abroad is a place to meet new fans, and also the people who can open the next door.
