Pre-Grammy Gala Set for Feb. 6, 2027, as a Tribute to the Late Clive Davis
The Recording Academy announced on Oct. 8 that the Clive Davis and Recording Academy Pre-Grammy Gala will take place on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2027, at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, the evening before the 69th Grammy Awards.
Honoring the Gala's Founder
Clive Davis created the Pre-Grammy Gala in 1976, and the Recording Academy became his partner in presenting it in 2009. Davis died on June 22, 2026, at the age of 94, and the next gala will honor his life and legacy.
A four-time Grammy winner as an album producer, Davis was known for discovering and nurturing artists including Whitney Houston, Alicia Keys and Bruce Springsteen.
Grammys CEO Harvey Mason jr. said Davis built the gala into an event the whole music community looked forward to for five decades, and that he would want nothing more than for the show to go on.
What the Night Is About
Often called "The Greatest Party Ever," the gala is known for once-in-a-lifetime performances and draws guests from music, film, television, sports and business. Further details, including performers, will be released in the coming months.

That the name of someone who found, developed and championed artists has been part of this tradition for half a century is worth reflecting on for anyone supporting artists in Japan. GAJ will publish a category-by-category roundup on Nov. 16, the day the nominations are announced.
