What Happened

Released in 2001, 'Dearest' served as an ending theme for 'Inuyasha' and won the Japan Record Award that year. The new edit moves from the countdown concert immediately after that win to Hamasaki's latest year-end performance.

Watch First

The lead YouTube video appears first, giving readers an immediate way into the song and story.

BRUSH MUSIC Pick

The edit does more than collect archival footage. Changes in voice, expression, styling and venue reveal the shared passage of time between an artist and her audience, turning an archive into a living new work.
